RadWhere™

Powerful Diagnostic Reporting with Multi-site Workflow Orchestration

RadWhere is a front-end speech recognition solution for academic centers, hospitals, and imaging centers with unique workflow, data-driven reporting, and communication needs. It also offers industry-leading diagnostic imaging workflow management, where reports are created with a variety of dictation styles, as well as the data extraction tools necessary for analyzing productivity and outcomes.

Designed to address the needs of healthcare networks with multiple RIS, PACS, 3D, and teleradiology systems, RadWhere seamlessly integrates these elements into a single worklist for the radiologist. It can launch an unlimited number of legacy and web-based PACS viewers while intelligently returning orders to the appropriate RIS system from a single workstation. Integration partners provide image routing capabilities that utilize the RadWhere worklists to further streamline the radiology workflow.

RadWhere also provides substantial benefits for facilities that do not need the robust capabilities of multi-system workflow management. It drives RIS/PACS workflow in a single environment or can allow a third party system to handle order lists, routing, editing and electronic signature workflow.

How does RadWhere impact you?

RadWhere offers four dictation styles plus digital dictation to accommodate physician preferences:

  • Real-Time Speech Recognition with Self Editing
Real-time speech recognition that allows you to view text as it is dictated. Edit using keyboard, mouse, and standard word processing tools, or with voice editing. The software immediately recognizes spoken changes and additions anywhere in the report.
  • Real-Time Speech Recognition with Auto-Loading Templates
Templates are mapped to procedure codes and are triggered by modifiers such as age and gender. Users can voice navigate standard text blocks which are fully voice editable.
  • Real-Time Speech Recognition with Auto-Structured Reporting
Auto-structured reporting eliminates the need for the radiologist to follow a structured format of a macro, while Natural language understanding (NLU) automatically structures report content. Once complete, the application presents the interpreting radiologist with a final report for review and edit. This intelligent phrase recognition and automatic organization tool can greatly reduce the time spent using conventional structured macros.
  • Real-Time Speech Recognition with Transcriptionist Editing
A combination of front-end speech recognition with transcription edit workflow. Reports may be created using speech recognition and any of the above reporting styles or through a built-in digital dictation interface.

  • Supports LDAP authentication
RadWhere utilizes an LDAP server for authenticating user login, eliminating the need to maintain passwords in RadWhere and to synchronize them with other systems such as a PACS or RIS
  • Connects to multiple servers and RIS/PACS
RadWhere may be configured to connect to more than one server allowing system selection at login. RadWhere also supports worklist consolidation through multiple RIS interfaces and PACS configurations.
  • Robust web-based user/administrator portal
RadWhere is managed via a secure web-based portal which is accessible from anywhere on the hospital network. This robust online management tool provides access to Order and Account Management, including:
    • Granular administrative rights for multiple layers of system management
    • Administrative worklists save time when querying commonly viewed order lists
    • Radiologist access for web-based order searching, case review, report editing, signing and custom code association
    • Technologist access for entering custom data values
    • Front desk access for document scanning and order attachment
  • Database report generator
The administrative portal includes a sophisticated reporting tool, including a variety of predefined reports – AutoText usage, radiologist productivity, radiologist voice recognition usage, peer reviews, radiologist statistics, reports by anatomy/modality, reporting activity detail, and more.
  • Integrated ACR-compliant peer review
Integrated with the ACR RADPEER quality assurance program, RadWhere Peer Review alerts the interpreting radiologist if images in the same area of interest are available for review. Using a standardized 4-point rating scale, the interpreting radiologist will evaluate the prior report. The collected data may link directly to the eRADPEER submission system.
  • Order assignment and workflow
Orders may be assigned to a specific radiologist to ensure an equal workload across the department.
  • Annotated “chat session” between users
Create reports and share amongst colleagues with voice-driven notes and annotations. This powerful functionality allows for collaboration studies and cases requiring multiple interpreters. For example, this feature allows a speech pathologist to dictate his/her portion of a barium swallow case and assign the remainder to a radiologist for completion and sign-off.
  • Integrated context-aware clinical knowledge
RadWhere offers integrated radiology knowledge with automated context aware searching. Information is delivered via natural language understanding with instantaneous access to disease details, anatomy, differential diagnoses, radiology and anatomy e-books, medical image searches, Internet content, radiology search engines, annotated anatomical atlases, and more. In addition to standard content, third-party integration supports direct access to additional resources.
  • Custom data capture and extraction
RadWhere offers easy access to radiologist-driven custom data entry as well as web-based technologist data entry.

RadWhere's web-based technologist portal allows for data capture, which can be linked to a patient and automatically merged during the radiologist’s dictation. For example, a technologist can enter data relating to radiation dose values for a particular patient. When the order is retrieved by a radiologist and opened, the predefined values are automatically inserted into a standard report macro, requiring only the radiologist’s dictation to be added.

RadWhere’s client workstation interface allows the radiologist to enter custom values for later extraction and analysis. For example, a radiologist may want to flag teaching cases, clinical trials, or record data relating to technologist QA and image quality.

  • Integrated critical communications
RadWhere integrates the Veriphy™ CTRM (Critical Test Results Management) system directly into the reporting process to provide a user-friendly enterprise communication system for critical test results management. This system eliminates the need for the radiologist to pick up a telephone and call a referring clinician. The reporting application automatically populates the appropriate data and audio is captured directly from within the application. The recorded findings are delivered to the referring physician and a confirmation receipt is created – providing compliance with Joint Commission guidelines. Individual user and administrator management round out this tightly integrated critical communication component.
  • Compatible with the PowerMic™ II
The PowerMic™ II is specially designed for enhanced physician productivity, providing ergonomic control of both standard dictation and speech recognition functions. The PowerMic II microphone offers simplified single-handed, thumb-control operation for dictating, navigating, reviewing, and editing speech recognition generated documentation.
  • LEXIMER Natural Language Understanding
When a report is signed, it is processed by LEXIMER, Lexicon Mediated Entropy Reduction, to extract findings and recommendations from the reports. Data is written to the database for data mining and analysis using the RadCube for Radiology software. The data includes each sentence in the report that was found to contain findings, as well as anatomical and pathological terms identifying each finding.
  • Integration with Radiology applications
The RadWhere database is fully integrated with the RadCube for Radiology data mining and analysis tool.

RadCube provides a powerful, yet easy-to-use, platform to create customized queries and visualize the results using charts and graphs. The RadWhere database is automatically exported to an OLAP cube ready for analysis. A number of predefined projects are included, providing access to a wide variety of queries. Data available for analysis includes: patient and exam metrics, report metrics, productivity measures, autotext/macro statistics, LEXIMER summary, LEXIMER exact findings

RSNA Structured Reporting Templates

The RSNA Reporting Committee is focused on improving radiology reporting practices by creating clear and consistent report templates that contain reusable structured data. In December 2009, this committee released 70 best-practices radiology report templates. These report templates represent best-practices that can be adapted and adopted based on local practice patterns. The report template library is designed to serve as a starting point for practices wishing to improve their reporting practices by standardizing the format, content, and structure of their reports.
