Using PowerScribe, a web-based application, radiologists can turn around reports within seconds. PowerScribe offers three dictation styles to accommodate physician preferences:

• Real-Time Speech Recognition with Self-Editing
  Real-time speech recognition allows radiologists to view recognized text during or at the end of dictation. They can edit it using keyboard, mouse, and standard word processor tools, or with voice editing—voice commands and microphone controls to correct and navigate the document. Radiologists also have the option of hands-free dictation—using a USB headset and foot pedal. The software immediately recognizes spoken word changes and allows for additions anywhere in the report.
• Speech Recognition with Delegated Editing
  Radiologists do not edit their own reports; instead, their speech-recognized draft report is forwarded to a transcriptionist/editor for correcting and formatting. Transcription time and costs are reduced as reports no longer have to be keyboarded from start to finish. Recorded dictation and recognized text are linked for “edit while listening” for greater accuracy and efficiency.
• Traditional Transcription
  The dictation of locum tenens physicians is transcribed without speech-recognized draft reports and without physician training.

  PowerScribe Workstation includes application programmer interfaces (APIs) to integrate with other healthcare information systems. The APIs enable “application-to- application” communication for simultaneous logon and accession number transmission. The integration enables PowerScribe to remain in the background, invisible to the desktop during dictation session and automate communication of dictation/signature events back to the PACS application.

  Report section headers, such as “Impressions” or “Findings” can be formatted automatically, according to your facility’s standards. Other auto-formatting features include dates and time, numbered lists, and acronyms, and other special words and phrases.
• Hands-Free Dictation
  Radiologists have the option to dictate using a USB headset and foot pedal for hands-free dictation and control. They can create reports and navigate through the application without the mouse or keyboard.
• Flexible Documentation Workflow for:
  • Once-and-Done “Front-end” Reporting: The report turnaround time can be cut to minutes when the Radiologist controls the reporting workflow.
  • Batch Dictation: The Radiologist can hold their dictated reports in a queue ready for review and signature at any time.
  • Correction Editor “Back-end” Support: Automatic or on-the-run routing to an editor for correction or traditional transcription allows the Radiologist to decide at any time who reviews the draft report. The report is returned to the Radiologist for review and signature, or additional dictation.
  • Traditional Transcription: Transcription without speech recognition available for those locum tenens physicians.
• User Friendly Administrative Function
  PowerScribe offers superior integration into existing radiology workflow, from case selection to transcription to e-signature to results reporting. Radiologists can sign reports electronically while viewing patient images, allowing them to ensure the transcribed report reflects what they observe.
